LG Flatron W2353V SMART Monitor Review
Ok, I’ll admit I’m a gadget guy… I love new electronics. However, I tend to gravitate towards new “toys” for my gadgets. Meaning, phones, laptops, DVD players… things that you use, touch amd really pay attention to… at least what I pay attention to…and typically gadgets where technology changes and you want to keep.
Since I’m typically on the computer for 12-15 hours a day, I like to have a nice setup. Dual monitors, multiple computers etc. I was one of the late adopters to grab myself dual flatscreens… and to be honest, once I got them I never really thought about replacing them. I mean, there big, thin, have a nice picture and do what I need…
I mean, really, what changes in an LCD other than the size and now the availablility of widescreen models?
Well, as I write this review, I’m staring at the new LG Flatron. 23″ of widescreen goodness.
I’ve recently added a Macbook Pro to my home office and when I got my hands on the LG Flatron W53 SMART monitor I immediately hooked it up to my Mac.
First, let me tell you that my thoughts of what can change in a LCD are gone.
This thing has no buttons. Everything is touch driven… when I bring my hand close to the monitor settings, they light up.. using the proximity sensor. Very Cool.
So, when I first got my mac, the thing I thought was by far the most helpful was the auto dimming feature. When the light changed in the room, so did the brightness of my LCD and keyboard lighting. LG’s W53 SMART monitor does exactly that.
Based on the Ambient lighting in the room, the brightest will automatically adjust. A very nice feature. Additionally, the SMART monitor will adjust itself based on the content on the screen.
When I first uppacked this monitor and set it up, I was immediately impressed by the appearance. Very sleek, anti-glare and a great fit on my desk. I was even more impressed with the HDMI input and the ability to switch sources.
Now, not only can I use this for work, I can easily use the LCD to playback DVD’s and TV via the HDMI plug.
Typically I’m used to seeing LCD panels from other vendors, and more often than not, computers are coming with LCD’s of their own. This is by far one of the best upgrades you can give yourself if you are considering replacing your existing old CRT or LCD.
