Now that the preview trailers are playing I’m beginning to get pretty hyped up about all the new shows. I hope my Tivo has had a nice summer vacation because it’s going to be working on overtime starting at the end of August.

Heroes
This is probably the show I’m most eager to get back into. It seemed it started very slow and quickly picked up pace. I think the writers heard everyone last season. Now it appears that next season will really begin showing off some super powers. Let’s just hope it lives up the hype.

Lost

I’ve always had a huge interest in movies. Not only watching them, but the technology that goes into making them. I thoroughly enjoy the filmaking aspect of movies. It’s always amazing to see something that started out as just a thought brought into something magical on the screen.

When software became affordable, I quickly jumped into learning how editing and special effects were done. I became a pro hobbyist. I purchased a DV-Cam, a great video card, video capture software, DVD burners and the editing and effects software I needed. I studied all of the good websites and got my hands on every tutorial I could find.

Now that I have my own home theater I thought it would be great, like many other home theater owners, to have my own custom intro. Just like the movies. Imagine, the 3d roller coaster swooping by the big tub of popcorn and huge soda cup and end up in front of a sign that said my home theater name.(All Home Theater owners name their theater).

One of the popular topics that have always come up in home theater forums is how to make these intros and buy them. I’ve seen plenty of really bad ones and some really good ones. So I decided to try my hand at something different. I’ve seen a lot of requests for a CountDown style intro that would countdown until movie time. After a few weeks of work I created the CountDown DVD.

The DVD runs for 25 minutes and can be started at chapters counting down from 25, 20, 15, 10,5,2 and 1 minutes. The Countdown time is always displayed in the lower corner of the screen and at each chapter is displayed prominately with a voice queue announcing the time remaining.

I didn’t want the countdown DVD to require you to watch it for 25 minutes, so it’s a series of high quality, subtle motion graphics that are switch every 2 minutes witin a 3d Stage environment. To really enhance the DVD, I added 2 cinematic music themes in addition to the 5.1 surround sound effects. If you prefer to turn the music off you can and only hear the voice queues and sound effects there’s an option for that too.

Finally, the last 30 seconds are a “Feature Presentation” intro that gets everyone prepared for the movie event. A short trailer of the DVD is available at http://www.inflixht.com. I’ll be putting together some more intros in the very near future.

Well, times have changed. I decided after Blockbuster raised my monthly fees yet again, it was time to move on. I must see a million ads for Netflix everyday. Now, when I decide to make the switch, not a one can be found. Needless to say, I found a good deal for Netflix. A free trial and nice cheap monthly fee.

Since I was already sitting on the couch and the DVD was put into the DVD player, I watched it. Now I wished I had done something else.

I’m a pretty big Steve Carell fan. He’s great in The Office, of course. I thought he was great in The 40 Year Old Virgin and good in Evan Almighty. I guess every actor draws a short straw on occasion and this must have been his turn.

For those that haven’t seen the movie, or know anything about it, Dan Burn (Steve Carell) is a newpaper columnist and the father of 3 girls. His wife died a fews year ago and he is struggling to be a father to his children. Dan packs he and his daughters up for an annual family gathering that includes his parents and his brothers and sisters families. It’s apparent to his mother that he is struggling with his daughters and escapes for the morning to a local bookstore. There he meets an intriguing woman he is looking for a book to help her cope through an awkward time. The

So I’ve seen these tempting little ads before and always thought they were spammy. After doing a bit of research I decided to give it a try. It was pretty simple and painless. First and foremost I created myself a new gmail account so I wouldn’t be inundated with spam. After filling in the form I was off to the races.

So, what’s the catch? Well, nothing is ever free. In this case, your free MacBook Pro will cost you some time. You’re required to complete some other online offers, fill in some more forms and participate in some product reviews. One of which is a review of the Macbook.

If you’re open to receiving some additional emails and have some extra time on your hands, this may be a good chance to get something for almost nothing.

There has been a slim selection on TV lately and my TIVO has been getting fat and lazy since it has had nothing to do. Now in April we begin to see some new shows, mostly comedies. Those longer series shows won’t come back until the fall, but I’m sure they will be bigger and better than before. Then again, they will have to be. Several shows have been droppped from the prime time line up so the networks will need to keep out attention.
